Take your Jumps and Tricks to the Next Level in Aviemore, at Rothiemurchus in the Cairngorm National Park – Scotland
Our MTB airbags are the perfect addition to our jumps masterclasses and performance MTB coaching sessions, giving riders of all abilities a safer way to practice jumps and tricks with confidence.
Whether you’re a beginner learning to get airborne or an experienced rider refining technique, airbag training allows you to focus on body position, timing, and control for more consistent airtime and smoother landings.

If you’ve ever dreamed of throwing stylish moves or learning your first tricks, this is the place to start — with professional Mountain Bike coaching to help you progress faster and ride with confidence.
Visitors to Sender IXS Bike Park with DIY session passes can also access the Mountain Bike, Dirt Jump and EMTB Bike AirBags for a small additional on-the-day fee. This charge is only taken once we’ve confirmed that weather and conditions are suitable, it is safe to operate the airbags and each rider passes the Induction Test.
AirBag Rider Safety Information
When DIY riders arrive and choose to use the AirBags, we’ll guide you through a practical competency test for the appropriate AirBag size. You’ll also have time to warm up on our tabletop and gap jumps before completing the tests. You may NOT be allowed to use the AirBags or you may be restricted to ONE AirBag if you do not pass the specific test(s).
The practical test confirms a minimum competency level only — but it does NOT guarantee rider safety. Once your wheels leave the ground and you take hands and feet off the bike, there is always a risk of serious injury. Mountain Bike AirBag training reduces risk, but it does not remove it. Take Breaks, Stop when tired and Wear adequate protection for the tricks you are attempting.
We strongly recommend full protective equipment when using all three MTB AirBags at Sender IXS Bike Park. This includes gloves, eye protection, knee pads, elbow pads, chest and back protection, neck protection, and a full-face helmet to reduce the risk of injury during jump and trick practice.

The minimum requirement to use the AirBags is a standard mountain bike helmet. AirBag use is undertaken at your own risk. When you are on a coached session or Masterclass using the AirBags can reduce the consequences of a crash, but it does not remove the risk of serious injury.
Riders must use flat pedals on all MTB airbags. Please check your pedals before riding to ensure the pins do not have sharp edges that could damage the AirBag surface. If a rider rips or damages the airbag top sheet, a £150 charge will be applied to partially cover repair costs. This helps us keep the airbags in safe condition for everyone to use, reduces downtime or closures on the day.
Our MTB AirBags at Sender IXS Bike Park are completely unique in Scotland and require significant ongoing investment to design, build, operate, and maintain safely. The cost of constructing the roll-in platforms, running surfaces, and airbag systems runs into tens of thousands of pounds.

We also power the AirBag fans with a diesel generator, which requires regular fuel and maintenance. To ensure reliability and rider safety, we operate with backup fans and spare top sheets, alongside specialist insurance, ongoing ground maintenance, and regular safety checks.
We hope this helps explain why we charge a fair and reasonable fee to provide this unique training facility Our aim is to keep the AirBags safe to use, reliable, and available for riders to progress their riding.
