The academy runs every second weekend for four sessions leading into summer, with dates on:
May 16th & 30th, and June 13th & 27th.
We offer two identical sessions:
- Shredders – 13:30
- Rippers – 15:00
Both sessions focus on developing skills, confidence, and control in a fun, progressive environment. We warmly welcome girl riders and are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all. To ensure high-quality coaching and plenty of individual feedback, spaces are limited to just 6 riders per session.

Each session includes 1 + hour of structured MTB coaching, followed by freeride time to consolidate skills and enjoy the bike park. We focus on core bike-handling skills, including body position, bike set-up, jumping, drops, and cornering. As riders progress, there may be opportunities to move onto the MTB Airbags for safe skill development.

Sessions are ability-based, not age-based, ensuring all riders are coached at the right level. Riders must be able to stand up and pedal confidently with the saddle lowered, maintain level pedals, and have a basic understanding of bike, brake and gear control. Riders who are already beginning to explore small jumps and drops will benefit most from these sessions.
These sessions are designed for riders beyond beginner level. All participants must have their own bike and helmet, and we strongly recommend gloves and knee pads for added protection. The cost is £24.50 / session which includes riding after the session. £98.00 for the Block of 4 Sessions.
Please go to the Shredder and Ripper Booking Calendar below! The other Academies displayed are invite only! for longer term riders. Please do not book these sessions.

**VERY LIMITED SPACES – GIRLS WELCOME AND SUPPORTED**
“More than many sports, mountain biking challenges young riders both mentally and physically in all kinds of weather. Being out in nature, they learn commitment, motivation, and tenacity. They face real consequences in a safe and controlled way, learning to understand, rationalise, and manage fear. Crashing, getting back up, and dusting themselves off builds strong, resilient personalities and character. Mastering mountain biking is a long and sometimes frustrating journey of refining and automatising skills and techniques, but with perseverance young riders unlock new levels of self-discovery, confidence, and enjoyment that stay with them for life.” Scott Muir

How do we make the MTB MAGIC happen at Sender?
Scott brings an unrivalled depth of experience and knowledge of mountain biking, combined with being the highest qualified MTB guide and coach in Scotland, helping young riders develop confidence, skills, and performance on the bike.
Our Kids MTB Academy programme focuses on long-term rider development through a series of structured coaching interventions that are fun, engaging, and confidence-building. Mountain biking takes place in challenging terrain and environments, and while it is impossible to remove all risk, we aim to manage it carefully through progressive coaching and purposeful practice, gradually refining skills in increasingly complex terrain.
Over many weeks, riders gain a deeper understanding of the technical, tactical, physical, psychological, environmental, and equipment aspects of mountain biking. This approach builds strong foundations and confident riders. Some may go on to compete and race, while others will enjoy a lifetime of recreational mountain biking.

Scott brings a unique performance background to the programme. He competed Internationally as a UK Red Bull Athlete in Ice Climbing World Cups. Operating at the highest levels of Extreme Sport. His own children have progressed through the racing pathway, with his son has raced at World Cup DH Level, his daughter to National Level DH. Coupled with PE (Hons) Teaching Degree with Sports Psychology, specifically “Psychological Self Management for Elite Performers” he is in his comfort zone working with and developing the racers of the future!
